Water Bore Drilling in Willbriggie

Groundwater near Willbriggie sits shallow but not at its shallowest, and a 2005 NSW report sets it against deeper water towards Koonadan. Depth to water changes across the district, so a neighbour's bore is a poor guide to yours.

Water Bore Drilling around Willbriggie

The May 2005 NSW Department of Primary Industries report says that in areas towards Gogeldrie Weir and near Willbriggie the groundwater tends to be around 1-2 m from the surface, whereas in areas towards Koonadan it tends to be deeper. It sets this beside the places with the highest watertables, less than 1 m, near Widgelli/Bilbul and south and west of Hanwood. On that report's reading Willbriggie is shallow but not the shallowest, and the word it uses is "tends": a tendency across an area, not a figure for any one bore.

The 2016 NSW fact sheet says the depth to which a new bore should be constructed depends on the geology found beneath your property. A district tendency does not set it. For a household or stock bore near Willbriggie, ask the provider how the depth was chosen and what it rests on, and treat a neighbour's depth as a story, not a specification.

Permits and Griffith City Council rules

The approval to construct a bore is the NSW Department's, shared with WaterNSW: it says you need a water supply work approval to construct a groundwater bore, household bores included. This site has not read a Griffith City Council rule for bores, so ask the Council whether it adds anything.
